Who is Barney Dine?
Barney’s roots can be traced back to his early days with Dr.Frank and the Thin Line Groovers, a regular act at the old ‘Piazza’ in Torquay, more recently Barney was the founder and lead singer for Daddy Mango, anyone familiar with the South West music scene will know just what a religious following ‘Mango’ enjoyed. Indeed ‘the last Tango’, was Daddy Mango’s last sell out gig at the Rainbow in 2005. In between times Barney has also sessioned for the likes of Stock, Aitkin & Waterman, Sonique, Judge Jules and life long friend Lou Marshall who has sung with Paul Weller, The Jools Holland Orchestra & Beverley Knight to name but a few.


Since Daddy Mango was disbanded by Barney he then took a year out busking Europe together with his partner Ang’, on this tour Barney played bass with the drummer from Basement Jax to a crowd of over a thousand people nightly. After which Barney was invited to record and jam with the remaining Basement Jax outfit, Barney however, wanted to get home and get his own tracks down which have now manifested themselves into the new album House Proud.

And now...?
Currently enjoying its 6th year, Jam night with Barney at ‘The Cider Press’ Torquay is probably one of the longest running and most popular jam nights on the South West music scene, among local artists that have been up and coming through Barneys Jam night are Bert Miller (and the animal folk) who played at Glastonbury this year. Also, Matt Sellors (and the scientists) who have recently been supporting Joss Stone on tour. Barney is also helping local up and coming talent Emily Howard and the band Becky Falls produce their own debut
albums.

Apart from assisting these local artists in the studio, Barney is now hard at work forming a new band together with Dean Mancey on drums (ex-Mango), Rick on keys, Ang on Bass and Jamie on guitar. The new band are currently rehearsing a collection of new songs which include some songs from House Proud.
